Pramiracetam Guide

Pramiracetam is the most potent of the racetam nootropics. It is an effective motivation enhancer and focus booster. For me personally it gives the most intense desire to be productive out of any nootropic that I’ve tried. I normally  have a huge problem motivating myself. I will sit down to try and get work done, but I will simply not be able to focus. I will get this overall feeling of apathy and laziness, and no matter how hard I try I cannot push myself to get stuff done.

Pramiracetam absolutely obliterates this feeling. It feels as if it shuts off the emotional part of my brain, and allows me to control my behavior solely based on logic. When I take Pramiracetam I know that it is logical for me to complete my work, so I do it. There is no dissenting emotion, or “But I just don’t feel like it…”. I know what I have to do so I do it.

There are a few different places on the internet where you can buy Pramiracetam. Here’s why it’s very important to choose wisely.

Nootropics are produced in chemical production labs. Oftentimes these labs are overseas, most of the time in China. Now, if  the thought of consuming something that was produced in a Chinese chemical production plant, it means that you have a brain. These labs have been known to export impure products, and sometimes even ship the completely wrong chemical. I personally am very serious about not ingesting random chemicals from Chinese chemical production facilities. This is why I buy my Pramiracetam from Peak Nootropics. Amnesia-reversal activity of a series of N-[(disubstituted-amino)alkyl] -2-oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetamides, including pramiracetam. From J Med Chem. 1984 May;27(5):684-91.

Showed that Pramiracetam is safe and well tolerated both in animals and humans, and shows promise in treating dementia.

‘The effect of pramiracetam (CI-879) on the acquisition of a radial arm maze task’ from Psychopharmacology (Berl). 1986;89(3):378-81.

Is a rat study which demonstrated that Pramiracetam can increase learning ability and long term memory.

Is a double-blind randomized study which measured Pramiracetam’s peak plasma concentration, and total body clearance.

Pharmacokinetics of pramiracetam in healthy volunteers after oral administration. From Int J Clin Pharmacol Res. 1992;12(3):129-32. determined that Pramiracetam is absorbed faster when taken in a solution rather than a tablet.

Measured the concentration of Pramiracetam in the blood plasma levels of dogs.

Placebo-controlled study of pramiracetam in young males with memory and cognitive problems resulting from head injury and anoxia. From Brain Inj. 1991 Oct-Dec;5(4):375-80.

Was a double-blind placebo controlled study which was conducted in order to test the efficacy of Pramiracetam as a treatment for memory problems. It demonstrated that those test subjects who took Pramiracetam saw marked increase in cognitive performance as opposed to those who took a placebo.

Memory training and drug therapy act differently on memory and metamemory functioning: evidence from a pilot study. From Arch Gerontol Geriatr. 1996;22 Suppl 1:9-22.

This study compared the efficacy of Pramiracetam at increasing memory versus memory training alone, versus both Pramiracetam supplementation and memory training together. The study showed that both groups who took Pramiracetam saw far greater improvements in memory than those who did not.

This study measured the efficacy of Pramiracetam vs Piracetam as a treatment for cognitive deficits in rats. It found that Pramiracetam is far more effective than Piracetam at normalizing irregular EEG patterns in these cases.

This study showed that both Piracetam and Pramiracetam can markedly boost cognitive performance in rats.

This paper tries to determine whether or not steroidal components are at play in the pharmacological mechanisms of Pramiracetam, and the other racetam nootropics.

The effects of various cognition-enhancing drugs on in vitro rat hippocampal synaptosomal sodium dependent high affinity choline uptake. From Life Sci. 1985 Jun 3;36(22):2145-52.

This is a study that compared the effects of 7 different drugs which purportedly boost cognitive function on their effects on rat hippocampal activity. It found that Pramiracetam, along with 3,4-diaminopyridine and centrophenoxine’s cognitive boosting benefits may be due to their effects on hippocampal cholinergic neuronal activity.

Reversal of scopolamine-induced alterations of choline transport across the blood-brain barrier by the nootropics piracetam and pramiracetam. From Arzneimittelforschung. 1989 Oct;39(10):1220-2.

This study measured the ability of Piracetam and Pramiracetam to offset Scopolamine (an anti cholinergic compound) induced amnesia. It found that both Piracetam and Pramiracetam are very effective in this regard.

Pramiracetam effects on scopolamine-induced amnesia in healthy volunteers. From Arch Gerontol Geriatr. 1994 Mar-Apr;18(2):133-9.

This is another study measuring the efficacy of Pramiracetam at lowering Scopolamine induced amnesia. This study found that Pramiracetam is more effective than placebo at reducing the effects of amnesia brought on by the administration of Scopolamine.

Nootropic drugs in Alzheimer’s disease: symptomatic treatment with Pramiracetam. From Neurology. 1991 Apr;41(4):570-4.

This study tried to determine whether or not Pramiracetam shows benefits for reducing the symptoms of Alzheimers. It found that doses of Pramiracetam up to 4,000 milligrams are unlikely to confer any benefits for treating Alzheimers.

Systemic administration of pramiracetam increases nitric oxide synthase activity in the cerebral cortex of the rat. From Funct Neurol. 1995 May-Jun;10(3):151-5.

This study determined that when administered Pramiracetam increases neuronal nitric oxide synthase, but does not increase neuronal nitric oxide synthase mRNA expression. This increase of neuronal nitric oxide synthase may be the factor responsible for Pramiracetam’s memory boosting effects.
